Here you will find the highlights from our 'latest news.'
Day to day, 'Valewood Way' updates can be found on our school Twitter & Instagram pages @ValewoodPrimary.
After careful consideration and research, Valewood will be benefitting from the presence of a new school dog. Not just any dog, but Ms. Tantouri's ‘Bella’, a two year old, apricot-coloured, first-cross (F1) cockapoo. She will be joining our team for one day a week in the forthcoming weeks. A letter has been sent home this evening to our families. The letter and FAQs can be found in the 'Newsletters' page, under our 'News & Events' heading.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019!
Dear Parents & Carers,
What a busy, full-on Autumn term we have all enjoyed...from Sopwith Camel bi-plane landings to power-walking with Olympians! Thank you to you all for your continued support and commitment in making our Valewood community such a unique and special one to be a part of.
This past year has seen us face many challenges and as we take time to reflect on our 2018 year, our thoughts are also with Mrs Eustace's family.
As a school team, we have also had cause for much celebration- across year groups and across many extra-curricular achievements too! Long may that continue.
The strength in our school community comes from our authentic relationships with each other. It is a privilege to be a part of our school and I am proud of everything we stand for at Valewood.
On behalf of all the staff and our governors, I wish you all a merry Christmas-time with your nearest and dearest and all best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year 2019!
N.B. Back to school on Monday 7th January.
Happy holidays to one and all!
Wish every good wish,
Helen Tantouri

A very warm welcome back to all our children, families, staff and governors.
We hope that you all enjoyed your summer holiday time and that you are all ready for an exciting year ahead at Valewood.
A special welcome to our new to Reception families. Our new 'tiddles' are now all in class, following a phased transition, and they have already impressed me with their curiosity, tenacity and wonderful manners. Well done everyone!
For our visitors and prospective families, please take note of our School Tour dates this term. Please book in advance by calling the school office. We look forward to welcoming you to Valewood and showing you around our lovely school.
All best wishes, for a very happy and productive New Year 2018-2019!

Remembering Mrs Eustace: Last Game of the Season at Marine Football Club
Children attending: please meet at 2.30pm in the Marine FC car-park, kick-off at 3pm.
Thanks in advance to the families attending. N.B. Parents/ carers are responsible for the supervision of their children.
This is what will be featured in Marine FC’s final programme of the season, tomorrow:
Valewood Primary School is very proud to be invited to today's last game of the season. Valewood Primary is a thriving school in the heart of the community in Crosby. At Valewood, we strongly believe in valuing personal strengths. Our exciting curriculum, ethos and Valewood Values bring out the best in everyone. See our Twitter feed for updates: @ValewoodPrimary.
We love football at Valewood and we are committed to the game- our boys having come top of the Bootle & District League for the seventh consecutive year! This is unprecedented!
In memory of our much-loved and highly respected teaching assistant Mrs Eustace, who was an avid fan at Marine, some of our keen children are here, at Marine FC today, to walk out with the players for their last game of the season. This is a great honour for us and a day, I know, the children will never forget.
Thanks to the Chairman for inviting us today and all best wishes to Mrs Eustace's family.
GO MARINE!
With every good wish,
Helen Tantouri
Headteacher
Our assembly this morning was to acknowledge the sad news of Mrs Eustace's passing. Mrs Eustace, a much-loved and highly respected TA and Breakfast Club play leader, died on Saturday with her family by her side. The news has shocked and saddened us all. All our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs Eustace's family at this very difficult time.
In assembly, I recalled how gentle and kind Mrs Eustace was to everyone. She will be sorely missed at Valewood. Everybody loved Mrs Eustace.
I have put a memory box in the Hall for children to express their thoughts, if they so wish. I explained to the children that it is OK to be sad and it is also OK not to cry because people deal with death in different ways. Children will be supported by staff as well as by our PSA and/ or counsellor, if they so wish.
In the coming days, we will organise a tribute to Mrs Eustace, to remember and celebrate her life in the dignified way that she deserves.
For now, I'd like to thank all our families, governors, friends, colleagues, children and local community for their condolences, kindness and keen messages of support. I will share the heart-felt messages with Mrs Eustace's family.
At Valewood, we live by our values and we will be there for each other at this very sad time.
More information about a memorial and a recognition of Mrs Eustace's time at Valewood will follow in the coming days. Thank you for your continued support, especially at this difficult time.
With regards,
Helen Tantouri
Thank you to all our parents and carers who attended last night's Curriculum Evening. It was a great success.
Parents fed back that the session was extremely informative and praised staff for their insight and enthusiasm. Keep reading everyone!
